Overview
Today almost every task is done by machines. These machines need to be built and repaired, and their spare parts replaced when they fail. A trained fitter can make various machine parts without using a machine. In factories and large workshops — especially where machine parts are hard to get quickly — a fitter plays a very important role, promptly making a broken part and restarting the machine so work does not stop and big losses are avoided.
